In industrial iron and steel metallurgy, blast furnace and converter are the core components of equipment. In the process of blast furnace smelting, the burner is responsible for mixing fuel (usually coke) with air and burning it to produce high-temperature gas, thus providing high-temperature energy needed in the furnace. This high-temperature gas not only helps to reduce iron oxide in iron ore to pig iron, but also provides heat in the furnace and active oxygen needed for chemical reaction. In the process of converter smelting, the burner is responsible for supplying oxygen to the furnace, and providing heat and reducing agent in the furnace by burning fuel and scrap materials. The stability and efficiency of burners are very important for the whole smelting process, and their performance directly affects the operation stability and productivity of the production line. Therefore, in industrial iron and steel smelting, the design, operation and maintenance of burners need to be strictly controlled to ensure the smooth smelting process and the quality of steel products meet the standards.

The core fittings involved in the metallurgical process of industrial steel include:

1. Blast furnace:

Blast furnace is the main equipment for ironmaking, which is used to reduce iron ore into pig iron. Blast furnace usually consists of furnace body, hearth, throat, shaft and other parts, and its operation stability and temperature control in the furnace are very important for production quality.

2. Converter:

Converter is the key equipment for steelmaking, which is used to convert pig iron into steel. Basic converter and oxygen converter are two common converter types. Steel refining and alloying can be realized by controlling converter operating parameters, such as oxygen blowing and carbon content adjustment.

3. Continuous casting machine:

Continuous casting machine is the equipment for casting liquid steel into continuous billet, including casting mold, crystallizer and cooling equipment. The performance of continuous casting machine directly affects the quality and production efficiency of billet.

4. Rolling mill:

Rolling mill is the equipment that processes continuous casting billet into steel products through plastic deformation, including hot rolling mill and cold rolling mill. The types and specifications of rolling mills depend on the required steel products, including hot tandem mills, strip mills, bar mills and so on.

5. Electric furnace:

Electric furnace is a kind of equipment heated by electric energy, which is used for steelmaking and melting scrap steel and other materials. Electric furnace is usually composed of furnace body, electrode, power system, etc., which can flexibly control temperature and alloying composition and is suitable for producing high-quality alloy steel.

6. Cooling equipment:

Cooling equipment is used to control the cooling speed and temperature of steel, including water cooling device and air cooling device. Through reasonable cooling control, the internal structure and properties of steel can be improved and the product quality can be improved.

The main steps of industrial steel metallurgy include:

1. Ore mining:

Ore mining is the first step of industrial steel metallurgy, and iron ore is usually obtained by open-pit mining or underground mining. Iron ore is an ore containing iron, and its main component is iron oxide, such as hematite and magnetite.

2. Ironmaking:

Ironmaking is the process of converting iron ore into iron. Usually, blast furnace or direct reduction furnace is used to reduce iron oxide to metallic iron by heating the mixture of iron ore and coke, and at the same time remove other impurities, such as sulfur and phosphorus. Blast furnace slag produced in this process is an important by-product of ironmaking.

3. Steel smelting:

Steel smelting is the process of converting iron-making products (pig iron) into steel. Through basic converter, electric furnace, melting furnace and other equipment, the carbon content in pig iron is adjusted to a suitable level, and alloying elements and other additives are added to adjust the composition and properties of steel.

4. Continuous casting:

Continuous casting is the process of continuously casting ironmaking and steelmaking products into billets. Through the continuous casting machine, the products of ironmaking and steelmaking are cast into rectangular or square billets, and then cut into required lengths for downstream processing products.

5. Rolling:

Rolling is the process of plastic deformation of continuous casting billet through rolling mill to make steel products of various specifications. Including hot rolling and cold rolling, are used to produce steel products with different properties and surface treatment requirements.

6. Surface treatment and finished product processing:

Surface treatment of steel products, such as zinc plating, coating, polishing, etc., to improve its corrosion resistance and aesthetics. Then according to the market demand, finished products are processed, such as cutting, bending, welding, etc., to make the final steel products, which are supplied to the market or used in downstream industries.

In the process of industrial iron and steel smelting, combustion engine plays an indispensable role, providing necessary heat energy and chemical reaction conditions for blast furnace, converter and other equipment. Their stable operation and high efficiency directly affect the efficiency and quality of steel production. Therefore, great attention should be paid to the design, operation and maintenance of the burner. Through scientific and reasonable management and technical means, continuously improving the performance and efficiency of the burner will help to promote the development of industrial iron and steel smelting industry and make greater contributions to social and economic development.
